Bible Memorization

Students will read the text from scripture. Work to memorize through a few different methods to retain and keep for a legacy of kingdom building using song, movement and writing.
Class time will be active working through all 150 psalms memorizing key passages.

Students will learn about the first explorers, the pilgrims, the American Revolution, Daniel Boone, and many more exciting adventures! Learning history has never been so much fun! Hands-on projects, music, food, writing, drawing, map work.

Martial Arts

Our program was modified last year from Taekwondo to Karate in order to provide a martial arts program for students to achieve any level of proficiency they desire. The system being taught is Tatsu Te Ryu Karate-Do and is based in Shotokan Karate.

Middle School STEM Lab

Our Stem team will explore the subject areas of science, technology, engineering, and math.
By connecting these areas of study, students will develop cross-disciplinary skills which will prepare them for higher level thinking.

Robotics Lab

Robotics Lab will provide an opportunity for students to learn how to code the Edison Robot using the Python coding language. Students will apply the Engineering Design Process to design challenges. Robots are all around us in daily life as well as in many workplaces. The goal of this class is to give students a basic understanding of coding and robotics to prepare them for further study.

You Can Cook 1 Middle School

In You Can Cook 1, students will acquire the basics they need to be successful in the kitchen. Through hands-on lessons and in-class preparation, they will learn fundamentals of kitchen safety; basics of measurement; how to read, halve, and double a recipe; important kitchen terms and methods; and what kitchen tools to use and when. By the end of the year, each student will be equipped to prepare a variety of delicious foods on their own from scratch and will have begun to assemble a binder full of “keeper” recipes, tips, tricks, and techniques that they can build on for years to come. Plus, we’ll eat in nearly every class!

This class will encourage students to grow in

abilities of sports games while also being challenged to strengthen their fitness levels through cardiovascular, strengthening, and flexibility exercises.

Students will develop of love for reading by exploring a variety of texts, both fiction and non-fiction, in a deep and meaningful way. A variety of engaging projects will allow students to apply their knowledge and skills in a fun and creative way.

Middle School Literature

Students will work with high-quality and challenging literature that will hep stretch their minds and increase a love for reading. An engaging course to prepare students for that next level in reading and comprehension!

Middle School World History

In this history course, students will study the Middle Ages, from the fall of Rome to the Renaissance. They will meet numerous historical figures and learn about the rise and fall of many empires and kingdoms. A very hands-on and in-depth approach.

Sewing

This is a beginner sewing class that will start at the very beginning with how to operate your sewing machine, including threading the machine, tension, and common stitches. Over the course of the school year you will make many projects that will advance your skills. We will start with small projects that will increase your knowledge and build your confidence. We will then end the year with making several wearable garments. Skills learned will include but are not limited to: sewing machine operation, reading patterns, proper cutting techniques, utilizing different stitches, working with different material, accurate measuring and marking, how to hold a seam allowance, and so much more. This course will take you from novice to making your own tailored clothes.

Gotta Know Grammar

Solid class about the rules of English grammar and how to use the rules in writing. Designed for 8th – 12th grade students who need to learn (or re-learn) the basics of grammar, go beyond the basics and learn more advanced concepts, and learn vocabulary along the way!

Spanish - Upper Elementary

Excellent course exposing students to Spanish in a relaxed, happy and fun way! Students will be motivated to explore Spanish as a second language. An all encompassing class delving into the Spanish language and culture!

General Science

This is a one year science course primarily for 7th graders, 6th graders who are strong academically, or 8th graders who need to strengthen their science background. It usually takes two weeks to cover a module. There are 16 modules. Some topics include: Scientific method, designing experiments, simple machines, archaeology, geology, paleontology, biology, and human anatomy and physiology. I especially like the section on historical science that discusses tests that show the validity of the Bible as an authentic historical work and support its trustworthiness.

Middle School Math

This class is designed to prepare your student for pre-algebra—this book was specifically chosen as a transition to Mrs. Ohland’s pre-algebra and high school math classes. The weekly class will consist of a lecture, quiz, and a game and/or puzzle.

This middle school writing course is designed to take students through the writing process and help them to become a confident and effective writer. Basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation will be addressed along with how to read and take notes.

Drawing & Painting

Students will be perfecting drawing and painting skills. First semester will
concentrate on drawing. We will study graphite, charcoal, colored pencil
and soft pastel. Second semester will concentrate on painting. We will
study watercolor, gouache, and acrylic painting.
