Writing Workshop

This middle school writing course is designed to take students through the writing process and help them to become a confident and effective writer. Basic grammar, spelling, and punctuation will be addressed along with how to read and take notes.

Elementary Writing

In this class, students will develop a love of writing by being exposed to a variety of writing types and activities to strengthen their writing abilities. Students will learn about the 6+1 traits of writing (ideas, word choice, fluency, voice, organization, conventions, and presentation) and use these to bolster their writing to the next level.

In this class, we will be studying various aspects of Language and Literacy through play, exploration, games, songs, and movement!

Advanced Writing Workshop

This second level writing course will build on the concepts from Writing Workshop 1. Students will acquire additional skills to further enhance their writing and will learn more advanced techniques

Writing Essays the Right Way

This course is geared toward 9th-12th grade students who need solid instruction on how to write a variety of essays and learn the entire writing process, brainstorm, find research, take notes in an organized fashion, write an outline, edit, and complete a final draft.

Gotta Know Grammar

Solid class about the rules of English grammar and how to use the rules in writing. Designed for 8th – 12th grade students who need to learn (or re-learn) the basics of grammar, go beyond the basics and learn more advanced concepts, and learn vocabulary along the way!

Advanced Essay Writing

Designed to help students become more advanced writers while preparing them for college writing, as well as doing some prep work for the writing portions of the ACT, the AP exam, the CLEP test, and the Accuplacer exam at KVCC. A class that will not disappoint!
